Accessibility Statement
1. Our Commitment
Garrett Advisory LLC is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We are continually improving the user experience and applying relevant accessibility standards to make our website inclusive and usable for everyone, including those who use assistive technologies.
2. Standards Conformance
This website strives to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA standards. WCAG defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. Key areas of focus include:
- Perceivable — Content is presented in ways users can perceive (text alternatives, adaptable layouts, sufficient contrast)
- Operable — Interface components are navigable and operable (keyboard accessibility, sufficient time, no seizure-inducing content)
- Understandable — Information and operation are understandable (readable text, predictable behavior, input assistance)
- Robust — Content is compatible with current and future assistive technologies
3. Accessibility Features
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements are navigable via keyboard. Tab order follows a logical sequence. Skip links are provided where applicable.
Semantic HTML
Proper heading hierarchy (h1-h4), landmark regions, and ARIA labels ensure screen readers can interpret page structure accurately.
Color & Contrast
All text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios. Color is never the sole means of conveying information. Focus indicators are visible.
Responsive Design
Content adapts to all screen sizes and zoom levels up to 200% without loss of functionality or horizontal scrolling.
Text Alternatives
All non-text content (images, videos, icons) includes descriptive alt text or equivalent alternatives for assistive technology users.
Reduced Motion
Animations respect the user's prefers-reduced-motion system setting. No content flashes more than 3 times per second.
4. Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet be fully adapted to the strictest accessibility standards. Known areas for improvement include:
- The blog content editor (admin area) produces HTML that may require manual accessibility review
- Third-party embedded content (CDN-served fonts, external scripts) may have limited accessibility controls
- PDF documents (CV downloads) may not be fully tagged for screen reader navigation
We are actively working to address these limitations and welcome feedback.
5. Technical Specifications
This website relies on the following technologies for accessibility conformance:
- HTML5 semantic elements (header, nav, main, section, footer, article)
- ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attributes for dynamic content
- CSS media queries for responsive and reduced-motion preferences
- Google Material Symbols with accessible labels
